Kraftwerk SculpturesOh. My. God. Coachella. Kraftwerk! I’ve not gone to a musical festival since the first Lollapalooza in 1991, and this is a 3 day festival. The good news is many of my music friends will be going with me and we plan to have a condo to retreat to if it gets too hot, away from the tots, and escape their pot.

The great news is all the wonderful bands that will be playing that I’ve seen and love (Breeders, Animal Collective, Holy Fuck, Annuals, Vampire Weekend, Roger Waters, well ok, Pink Floyd) and bands I can’t wait to see (Portishead, Love and Rockets, Dan Deacon, Kraftwerk, Datarock, Jamie T, St. Vincent — I’ll also see Annie Clark in Feburary, Dimitry from Paris, Shout Out Louds, Madness, The National, Stars, dan le sac vs. Scroobius Pip, Akron/Family) and the bands I’ll be happy to see (Fatboy Slim, Death Cab for Cutie, Rilo Kiley, Stephen Malkmus, Múm, Battles, Simian Mobie Disco, Rogue Wave).

I hope I won’t have to choose between great acts too often.

Now there are artists I can no longer put off and have already begun exploring — hello, Justice, nice to meetcha — like Sharon Jones, Aesop Rock, Spank Rock, diplo and M.I.A., Jens Lekman, my one night stand with Hot Chip, my three way with and Bonde Do Rolê and Architecture in Helsinki, Modeselektor, MGMT, I’m from Barcelona, Spiritualized, Tegan and Sarah). At least I have 90 days to do it in.

And all the bands (unbelievably) I don’t know. Wish me luck, drop me a comment, and I hope to see you there!

Looks like a good lineup. If you want to check out some of those bands, last.fm has on-demand streaming now. (It’s very cool.)
